    1Pricing
    • R1,250 per person including VAT.
    • Minimum 10 guests required. If fewer, a session fee of R12,500 applies.
    • Complimentary beverage bar setup: with our full range of cordials, tonic water, soft drinks and garnishes. Please bring the gin, wine or beer.
    • Maximum capacity: 14 for winter (May–Sept), 18 for summer to incorporate outdoor seating.

    Bring 12 guests.
    We will cover you + 1.
    Two free places, guaranteed: the 13th and 14th. No 14th guest? The second place becomes a public cooking class voucher (valid 3 months, transferable, no cash value).

    2Payment
    • Pay within 5 days of confirmation via EFT, or the date is released.
    • Booking within 21 days of the event: pay immediately.
    3Final details (1 week before)
    • Confirm guest numbers and dietary needs 1 week before.
    • Changes after that: R500 admin fee.
    • Special diets may cost extra (typically R100 per person).
    • You choose a class, not individual dishes.
    4On the day
    • Arrive 15 minutes early. A late start may shorten the class.
    • Overtime: R1,500 per hour after a 30-minute grace period, billed per 20 minutes.
    • Evening classes end by 10pm.
    • Address sent via WhatsApp 5 days before.

    • Rescheduled events must happen within 3 months.
    • Force majeure: the event is postponed, to be rescheduled within 3 months. We do not cover travel costs.
    6Allergens & halal requirements
    • Our kitchen uses gluten, soy, sesame, shellfish and peanuts. It is not allergen-free.
    • Halal classes use meat from halal butchers, with no pork and no alcohol. Equipment is shared with other classes. We are not halal-certified.

    7Drinks
    • On arrival: one welcome drink from our beverage bar. Add your own gin if you like.
    • Then 90 minutes of cooking: no alcohol while we cook, for safety and so everyone learns.
    • Drinks are welcome again with the meal: up to 1 bottle of wine, or four beers or mixed drinks (e.g. G&T), per person.
    • No shots, neat spirits or whisky. Anyone clearly intoxicated will be asked to leave.
    8Recipe & content protection
    • Our recipes, methods and class content belong to Umami Food Studio.
    • You are welcome to cook them at home and share photos of your evening. Please don’t publish or share the recipes themselves, including on blogs, social media or in publications.
    9General
    • Photos may be taken for promotion. Tell us if you prefer not to appear.
    • Menus may change with ingredient availability.
    • Guests attend at their own risk. We are not liable for loss, injury, allergic reaction or damage, except where caused by our negligence.
