Dietary & Allergies

Can you cater for my dietary needs in class?

It depends on the class. Each class page lists the dietary needs we can and can't cater for. Check it before you book. If you book a class that doesn't suit your diet, we can't change it.

Private classes and team building: we can adjust some dishes. We'll go through it with you when you choose your class.

If it's an allergy, you may still handle that ingredient in class.

Booking a public class for a group?

Check the class page with every guest before you book. Each class lists the proteins we cook with and who it suits. Halal, vegan, vegetarian or pescatarian guests need a class marked for them.

Not sure? Talk to us before you book.

Before every class, we also contact each guest to hear their dietary needs in their own words.

Is your food halal?

Our chicken, beef and lamb are halal-certified, but our studio isn't halal certified. Halal guests need a class marked halal. About 85% of our products are halal-friendly by ingredients.

What can't you cater for in class?

Coeliac, soy allergy, kosher and certified halal. We also can't cook garlic-free, onion-free, low-carb or low-salt.

Soy sauce, miso and gochujang are in almost every dish, and we're not kosher or halal certified. Our kitchen uses gluten, soy, sesame, shellfish and peanuts, so it is not allergen-free.

I need a low-gluten diet. Can I join a class?

Most of our Thai and Vietnamese classes work for a low-gluten diet. Check the class page, or talk to us.

Can you cater for dietary needs at private dining?

We'll do our best to cater for everything you need. Talk to us first, and we'll plan it together.

Can you use olive oil or avocado oil instead?

Unfortunately not possible. Olive and avocado oil burn at the high heat we need for chilli oil and stir-fry oil. In pickles, olive oil turns solid and cloudy in the fridge. We've tested every oil we could find in South Africa, and only canola and sunflower work.

Can you make a product without a certain ingredient, or swap it for something else?

Not for regular orders. Each product is made to one recipe. If there's another version, you'll find it on the product page.

For bulk orders of 10+ portions, or 20+ bottles of a bottled product, we can consider it. Talk to us.
